- Last Aid – care for the dying at home
This course is run annually (usually in Term 4) through Byron Community College in Mullum. It runs over 7 evenings.
“Participants will learn how to be of genuine service to others, who may be family or friends, who are dying and who have chosen to die at home. Any person can attend this course and it can, if you wish, lead on to full training as a volunteer carer for Amitayus Byron Hospice Service.”
Note, it is also the first stage of our Volunteer carer training.
There are 2 subsequent trainings for volunteer carers:
2. Manual Handling – a more hands-on half-day course learning how to move people in/out of bed, chairs etc
3. A non-residential weekend looking deeper at ones’s personal issues around death and dying, grief & loss.
